When I first started writing copy, I used to sit in front of a blank screen, totally lost, wondering how I’d ever get words to flow. I’d overthink, try to include every possible idea, and end up with a mess.
I guess you experience that shit too?
Then, one day, I stumbled upon a course that introduced me to a powerful concept. At first, it seemed too simple, so simple, in fact, that I almost overlooked it. But once I embraced it, everything changed. Writing copies became easy.
It’s called “RIOA” .The Rule of One. And honestly, it’s a game-changer.
Here’s the breakdown:
- R is for Reader (just one!)
- I is for Idea (focus on a single, clear idea)
- O is for Offer (one offer, not multiple)
- A is for Action (the specific action you want them to take)
That’s it—one Reader, one Idea, one Offer, and one Action.
Now, I know what you’re thinking: How can something this simple be effective?
Trust me, I thought the same thing. But the beauty of RIOA is that it forces you to streamline your message. Instead of trying to say everything at once, you focus on what really matters.
Why is this important? For two big reasons:
1. Clarity – It keeps your copy organized, so you (and your audience) can clearly understand what’s driving the message. You’ll know exactly what you want the reader to feel and what action you want them to take.
2. Avoiding Overwhelm – A confused or overwhelmed mind won’t buy. When you hit your audience with too much information or too many choices, they freeze. Keeping things simple and focused makes it easier for them to say “yes.”
Once I started using the Rule of One, my copy transformed. Suddenly, I wasn’t just throwing words on the page; I was creating messages that resonated, drove action, and most importantly, converted.
So, the next time you sit down to write, remember RIOA. Keep it simple, clear, and focused on that one reader, one idea, one offer, and one action. Your copy will be stronger for it—and your results will speak for themselves.
Till next time,
Chao!
