turns small talk into big opportunities
how my mother-in-law got my kids to drive a stranger's pontoon
Big opportunities from cold convos.
Jason here.
We just got back from 5 days at family camp yesterday...
It felt like walking into a scene from Dirty Dancing.
It was one of those small, tight-knit communities where everyone's been coming for years and knows each other's kids by name.
At first, it felt hard to break into the cliques there...
But my mother-in-law has this amazing knack for starting conversations with strangers.
I watched her do it all week.
At dinner one night, I wasn't really paying attention...
But when I looked over a minute later, she was giving our waitress from Thailand a big hug while the waitress was crying.
Another time, she struck up a conversation with an older gentleman staying in the cabin next to us.
Turns out he'd been coming to this resort since he was young...
And after chatting with him for a bit, he offered to take us out on his pontoon boat to give us a tour of the lake.
The next day we went out with him, and gave us the back story on all the big houses around the lake.
He even let my son and daughter drive the pontoon, which they loved.
This is exactly what happens when you open conversations the right way...
...incredible opportunities show up that you never expected.
But it sounds like a lot of people are having trouble even getting responses to their messages right now.
They're sending things that feel like sales pitches...
Trying to "network" instead of actually connecting...
Forgetting there's a human on the other side.
Over the next couple days, I'm going to share the most important insights and resources I've found on having more and better conversations.
The kind that lead to opportunities you never saw coming.
Because whether it's a pontoon boat ride, a million-dollar introduction, or a life-changing partnership...
It all starts with knowing how to open that first conversation.
In Your Corner,
Jason
P.S. I’m just about to drop my favorite training to subscribers of the A-List in the next few days.
Travis laid it all out a few years ago.
And he gives the best examples I’ve seen for how to start REAL convos in a way that’s impossible to ignore.
If you want to catch that the minute it drops…
